Grimaud is a French Riviera town in southeastern France with a population of approximately 3,800 people. It has historical links to the Genoese Grimaldi family that rules Monaco as its royal family today. Gibelin de Grimaldi helped William the Good force the Saracens out of the area in AD 973, and his prize was the land that now makes up Grimaud. The village is still dominated by its partially restored 11th century castle. Grimaud homes range from luxury villas to apartments on the canal.
Port Grimaud is located four miles southwest of St. Tropez and is considered part of Grimaud proper. The Church of St. Francis of Assisi contains stained glass by Victor Vasarely, considered by many to be the father of the Op-art movement.
Gassin is a village in southeastern France with a population of approximately 2,800 people. Gassin is located on the St. Tropez peninsula above the coast, providing beautiful views of the sea and located just 4 kilometers from the Mediterranean beaches. Things are quieter in Gassin than St. Tropez, so tourists who want more of a soft adventure vacation often gravitate toward the smaller community, and Gassin villas for sale tend to be more affordable than a similar spread in St. Tropez.

Le marché du luxe ne connaît pas la crise… En 1987, 700 bateaux de plaisance de plus de 30 mètres naviguaient sur les mers du globe. Aujourd’hui, on dénombre plus de 4 500 yachts, et près de 800 autres seraient en passe d’être livrés. « La conjoncture est très porteuse, avec des carnets de commande remplis pour dix ans, et pour des bateaux de plus en plus grands » note Alberto Spina, ancien directeur de Monaco Marine, aujourd’hui responsable de Composite Works, un important chantier de réparation à La Ciotat.
Hommes d’affaires, stars du show-biz ou du sport, de nationalité russe bien souvent, les propriétaires de ces bateaux ne posent plus de limite à leur folie dépensière. « Avant, on faisait construire un bateau standard, en pensant à sa revente. Aujourd’hui, les propriétaires se lâchent, demandent des choses extravagantes, uniques », analyse Thierry Voisin, président de « Méditerranean yachts brokers association » (MYBA), un réseau qui regroupe les plus grands courtiers de la planète.

NICE (AFP) - Le milliardaire russe Mikhail Prokhorov sera bientôt le nouveau propriétaire de la villa Leopolda de Villefranche-sur-mer (Alpes-Maritimes), achetée à la veuve de l’homme d’affaire Edmond Safra au prix record d’un demi-milliard d’euros, affirme le quotidien Nice-Matin dans son édition de samedi.
Aucune source proche de la transaction n’a pu être jointe pour confirmer l’information.
Le journal avance que le prix de vente exact de la villa s’élève à 496 millions d’euros, une somme qui pulvérise tous les records en matière d’immobilier privé.

Mystere autour de la maison la plus chere au monde
“Un milliardaire russe se serait acheté une villa sur la Côte d’Azur pour une somme de plusieurs centaines de millions d’euros.
La Côte d’Azur héberge-t-elle la maison la plus chère du monde ? Selon le quotidien Nice Matin, la villa Léopolda, propriété d’exception de Villefranche-sur-Mer, qui surplombe le cap Ferrat, s’apprête à passer aux mains d’un oligarque russe pour la somme extravagante de 500 millions d’euros. L’affaire du siècle pour une villa de luxe. Une transaction qui ridiculiserait presque le record jusqu’à présent détenu par une propriété anglaise, voisine des jardins de Kensington Palace, achetée 147,28 millions d’euros par le magnat indien Lakshmi Mittal.
Le compromis de vente de la villa Léopolda aurait été signé il y a quelques jours devant un notaire niçois et devrait se finaliser début septembre. La propriétaire, Lily Safra, veuve du banquier suisse d’origine libanaise Edmond Safra, mort dans un incendie criminel en 1999, serait de son côté représentée par un notaire parisien. Le prix aurait atteint de tels sommets car elle ne souhaitait pas vendre la villa.”
