Bay of Saint Tropez

When my wife and I were planning our honeymoon, we researched a variety of different places we thought we would enjoy visiting. When it came down to it, we ended up flipping several coins to choose because so many locations seemed exciting. These were our top three choices:
~Saint Tropez; my wife had always fantasized about living in one of the Saint Tropez villas as a wealthy benefactor. The beautiful structural architecture combined with the tropical climate inspired us to consider renting a villa for our honeymoon.
~Ireland; my father was Irish and I had always wanted to visit the homeland, venturing through the countryside, drinking Irish mead, and participating in the local culture.
~Brazil; both my wife and I loved the idea of Brazil as a modern community with a tropical climate. We thought about shopping in the morning and lying on the beach to watch the sunset at night.

Villas were originally upper class country homes first designed and conceived in ancient Rome. The Romans built the homes both in urban and rural locations, and featured several courtyards, servants quarters, and all the luxuries one would come to expect from the modern Roman home during the time of the Republic. The fall of the Republic marked a change in villas as they become fortified farming compounds rather than luxury homes. The villa returned to its original purpose throughout the Middle Ages and slowly evolved into the upper class country homes we know today.
Villas are common throughout Italy and France in modern times, having different architecture and masonry. Rome, Toulouse, and St Tropez villas act as examples for the evolution of villas, and their different styles.

Saint Tropez, a commune in South France, is located on the French Riviera and is particularly known for its famous and wealthy guests. His body was set a sail in a rotten boat, along with a rooster and a dog, and it landed at the present day location of the town. Since those humble beginnings, Saint Tropez has been home to several military operations, including the Allied invasion of Southern France in 1944. It was also the summertime home-base of French existentialists.

During a break from boarding school last spring I was able to travel with my friend and her family to her grandmother’s villa in the south of France. I hade never been to Europe before and I was so excited. I met her family in New York City and we boarded a flight to Paris. From Paris we took a train to Provence, then rented a car and drove to the villa. When we entered the small village where we were to stay, I wondered which of the Ramatuelle waterfront villas was theirs. When they pointed it out to me I was impressed. It seemed like more of a mansion to me then a villa.
Ramatuelle was beautiful. It was built into the hills looking out over the Bay of Pampelonne. Close to the villa was the famous beach of Pampelonne. The beach was 5-miles of glistening, white sand and crystal clear water. That summer we attended a local jazz festival. We danced all night under the
